A Tune A Day #4: Earl Brutus – The SAS And The Glam That Goes With It
Earl Brutus are basically the Fall meets Kraftwerk. Believe it or not this is an example of a song A-listed by the London-wide FM-licenced XFM back in late 1997. In the days before Myspace (still great for hopping around from bandsite to bandsite) I found a lot of bands like this thanks to XFM. Can’t bear to listen to it now.
Earl Brutus’s lead singer, Nick Sanderson, died of cancer in June 2008 aged 47. The band had been on hiatus for several years and had just got together to practice for some more live shows. They’re one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live so this was doubly gutting.
