Antarctic Monkeys – The Buttermarket, Shrewsbury

ANOTHER new venue for me, The Buttermarket in Shrewsbury. They mostly have cover bands here (and I think also Darts and Showaddywaddy are lined up for gigs here!). It’s a beautiful old building though, set in a beautiful town. We had a walk along the Severn before the gig.

I’m not really a fan of the Arctic Monkeys. I saw them just once, back in 2014 in Finsbury Park, when I was about 10 miles from the stage because I hadn’t bought VIP tickets. I had tickets in 2005 to see them in Chinnery’s. My daughter was born that day, so I gave the tickets away!

So as a result, I don’t really know their back catalogue that well, and these guys did a good job.

The idea of going out tonight was to celebrate the General Election result. Have to admit that the landslide had been forecast for so long that it didn’t seem as exciting as it should have been.
