Day 11: Okonjima Plains Camp to Windhoek

Actual: 253 km / 157 mi, 2 hr 30 min (no gravel roads)

We got going at about 9am today, after we had shooed away the jackals that had fallen asleep under our car! Again most of our driving was on good tarmac roads but we didn’t really see a lot until we reached Okahandja, where we stopped for lunch.

We had a sandwich at Bakkerei Dekker, a small bakery run by some old Afrikaans ladies. We drove an extra 30km needlessly after u-turning (the road was closed and there were no diversion signs). I managed to work out where to go, and we made it over to our hotel in Windhoek about 3pm.

Off to Cape Town in the morning …
