Longwood House
There’s two attractions outside of the town that everyone goes to see. The first is Longwood House, where Napoleon spent the last six years of his life, from 1815 to 1821.
You get to see the modest house that he lived in, the room he died in, his death mask, that kind of thing. The history about how he came to be there was very interesting, so it was definitely worth a visit.
The site is owned by the French government – it’s probably not really part of France but you can get a fake stamp in your passport for £1 in the gift shop.
The first photo below is Hutts Gate Store, where Napoleon used to order his wine from. It’s now a listed building (and I think people live there too).
It’s a tiny place, but Saint Helena still has room for a golf course.
