What’s so great about Cecil Rhodes?

The cover of the 1950 timetable from Eastern National. I vaguely remember seeing EN 151 and 251 buses hurtling down Main Road, Romford in my youth … the company is long gone and now part of First Essex.

The map is interesting in its own little way, no Basildon or Harlow of course and way too many bus routes on the Dengie peninsula than you would expect. What I want to know is what’s so great about Cecil Rhodes that he gets a mention on here, but none of the other illustrious people born in the area gets the same treatment?
