Futureheads, Mt Misery – Esquires, Bedford

Back to Esquires in Bedford for the first time since I saw Jim Bob, Midway Still and S*M*A*S*H there in 2012.

I keep thinking Bedford is much nearer than it actually is. It sounds like the next county to Essex, doesn’t it? Why does it take over an hour and a half to get there then?

But I was really looking forward to seeing the Futureheads – after their set at Latitude in 2019 was cut short after three songs due to a thunderstorm, and their set at Latitude 2020 didn’t happen at all.

As well as Latitude two years ago, I saw them at Reading in 2010 and Offset in 2009 but the last time I caught them on their own gig was in 2006, which is probably too long ago. They’re still really tight live and had a great selection of songs over old and new albums tonight.
