Vile Electrodes, Under The Stars, Killatrix, Lixiviath – Society of Old Brentwoods, Brentwood

My 400th gig, I think! Some of the gigs/soundcheck onlys/sessions I’ve done might or might not have constituted a place on this list – but let’s call it 400.

I was very pleased to see Vile Electrodes again – I can’t believe it’s been nearly five years since I caught them at Bar Lambs in Westcliff. They put on a fantastic Jarreish set with an early-days-Human-League-style slideshow in the background.

Under The Stars (who changed their name to Helix Pulsar straight after the gig!) and Lixiviath were two electronic French bands who came over specially to play for us. The sets went down well with the crowd and I was amazed at the Lixiviath frontman’s English, which had the tiniest hint of a French accent and much more Cockney/Estuary glottalisations than you would expect!

Killatrix are always a good bet live and they put on a very worth set again too. All in all, a very good way to celebrate 400 (ish) gigs.
