Thousand Yard Stare, Elucidate – 229, Great Portland Street, London

Back for yet another Thousand Yard Stare gig, this time at the 229, a venue I haven’t been to in over 10 years since I saw Jonny Cola and the A Grades here. This time it was a much busier affair – the show was sold out, and as I went on my own I perched in my usual place very close to the front.

It was good to have a long chat with Stephen before the gig, mostly about the joys of moving to a different part of the country. He’s done it, I’m still in the planning stage.

I don’t know a lot about Elucidate – a young band with a good sound and short but solid set.

This was my 13th TYS gig – and my 11th since they reformed in 2015. They don’t play a lot of shows, but I tend to be at the ones within easy driving distance. And I swear each time they get a little bit better and better. The new music helps – this year’s album Earthanasia is a really strong offering and doesn’t sound out of place with their 90s material. It’s good to still be able to keep it alive!
