Wannadies, Duschpalatset – Assembly Hall, Islington

My first Wannadies gig in 22 years! In fact this was my first proper Wannadies gig, as the other occasion I’d seen them was in a very hot and humid tent at the Leeds Festival in 2000. I remembered them as being great back then so was really looking forward to this one. And it didn’t disappoint.

The gig had originally been scheduled for the Roundhouse but was moved here due to ticket sales – bad news for the band, good news for music fans who like to get a bit nearer to the stage. I never get a good view at the Roundhouse unless I’m in the seats.

The ticket came courtesy of my friend and Wannadies uberfan Gareth, who’d been to see them live in Sweden earlier this year.

Support came from another Swedish band, Duschpalatset, which seems to translate back into English as shower palace.
