Standon Calling 2017 – Standon Lordship, Hertfordshire

Bands seen: Tin Pigeons, Alex Francis, Strong Asian Mothers, Club Drive, Lucy Spraggan, Nadia Rose, Kate Tempest, Curse Of Lono, Charlie Cunningham, Idles, Fickle Friends, Nothing But Thieves, KT Tunstall, Gary Numan, Editors, Alex T, Jordan Grey, Grace Jones, British Sea Power, Steve Davis

My first Standon Calling. A very interesting mix of bands I love and music I wouldn’t touch with a bargepole.

Musical highlights? Idles are a highlight wherever I see them. Same for British Sea Power, who played the enclosed Laundry Meadows stage and made it feel like it was their own venue.

I don’t care much for Grace Jones’s music but her stage presence is amazing.

Interviewed a number of bands including Strong Asian Mothers (nice guys) and the Tangerines (drunk and uninterested).

KT Tunstall was a delight to chat to. Gary Numan was not as much fun as the first time I interviewed him, but I think that was mostly due to his tour manager who was trying to hurry us up all the way through it.

Oh and I finally caught Steve Davis and Kavus Torabi DJing. Crowd were having it large!
