Coldplay, Robyn – Emirates Stadium, Islington

Last time I bought a ticket for a Coldplay gig, Lowgold supported them, there were about 400 people in the room, and they only played songs from Parachutes or earlier. ALL good things. And the ticket cost 10 quid – 6 and a half times less than this ticket cost.

OK, first things first. This is what I think of the venue.

I did see a lot of people holding their hands up in the crowd, so it was an appropriate setting. (Yes, I’m not a fan of the football club). We were right at the back – not so good for viewing the main stage but good for getting a bird’s eye view of the whole spectacle so it wasn’t so bad.

That’s Robyn, above. Sounded awful. She was one of two supports with Rita Ora, who is worse, and we wisely decided to miss. We were a bit fed up about picking the wrong day and not realising that Ash and Marina and the Diamonds supported 24 hours earlier.

We all got a wristband that lit up in the dark, so we could all be part of the experience. There were helpful instructions on the big screen about this.

The actual Coldplay show was pretty good. Not as good as seeing them play Parachutes at the Junction with 400 people, but there you go, some things in life spoil your future. Last time they played, the show didn’t look much like this …

The nearest they got to replicating that was when they popped up on a small stage at the back of the crowd on the floor, which was a nice touch.

I took some videos too.
