Brownstock Festival 2014 – Stow Maries, Essex

Bands seen: Goldie Lookin’ Chain, Chloe Howl, Bambi, Roots Manuva, De La Soul, Local Life, Milk, Bipolar Sunshine, Feeling, Razorlight

Really pleased to say I finally made it over to Brownstock after years of not being able to go for whatever reason!

This was a yearly festival held between 2005 and 2016 at Morris Farm in Stow Maries, just outside South Woodham Ferrers, by landowners the Brown family (hence the name). I met up with the organisers in the week beforehand and they seemed like really nice people – and the festival itself had a great vibe which I thought was really nice. Not an enormous number of acts that I wanted to see, but I had a good time all the same.

I probably enjoyed the Feeling the most and I might be able to put my prejudices aside and say that Razorlight weren’t too bad either!

I was a bit disappointed with De La Soul – they were OK but there was too much “I think this half of the crowd is louder than the other half, let me hear you say yoooo” crap going on with them. Just play the songs already.

I loved the little stage up in the treehouse too.

Lots of videos and photos:
